Reno Spring Guide 2026

Snapped in front of Great Basin Food Co-op on 4/2025. This place is such a gem.

Hiya Friends,

Chirping birds, blooming trees, flowing waterfalls… and allergies ( I feel for you all- seriously!). Yep, it’s spring. You can feel it in the air and in the buzz of people getting back outside, soaking up sunshine, and making plans again.

And how lucky are we to experience this magical season in Reno, where stunning spring landscapes come alive with snow capped mountains (on a good year) as the backdrop and the Truckee River running right through town. And let's not forget the natural places that bring you up close and fully immerse you in the season, with waterfalls, blooming landscapes, and perfectly mild weather.

But blink and you will miss it. Like fall, it never seems to last long enough, so take it all in while you can… or you will be wishing for it again sooner than you think.  Personally, I like to get outside as much as possible.  I like to milk life of all it's got, LOL. #noregrets #YOLO

Which brings me to this post that includes curated list of upcoming events in and around Reno, along with spring activities, recurring favorites, and more ways to enjoy this magical season.  I seriously almost blew a gasket handling all of this action at one time.  All jokes aside, I hope you make it out and have some serious fun this spring.

Hang with me on Instagram @lovingreno775, where I share even more local gems that may not have made it onto the blog just yet.

I'll be sure to update this guide with any events I may have missed or new ones that pop up, so be sure to check back regularly.

I hope this guide helps you find joy, connection, & adds a little epic in your days.

Peace, love, and kindness.
-Kat

Notes
*Some events listed below require reservations or tickets. Many fill up quickly, so I recommend booking as soon as possible to secure your spot!
*This post is purely a reflection of my love for our city and years of personal, firsthand experience. In other words, it is not sponsored.

Spring Bucket List
*Admire wildflowers - you won't believe how many unique wildflowers you'll see on Hunter Creek Trail (mid-late spring is best to catch this scene).  Deadman's Creek at Washoe Lake is also a fun to spot wildflowers along the way up to the gazebo that overlooks Washoe Lake.
*Seasonal foods - Engine 8 Brewery has a delicious Spicy Conductor pizza that comes with candied jalapenos and a hot honey drizzle. Sip on the flavors of spring at Old World Coffee, Star Village Coffee, Coffeebar, Pangolin Cafe, & The Lodge.
*Riverside Farmer's Market is a favorite activity year-round, especially during spring when everyone starts coming out of their caves, LOL. Community, vendors, grub, and scenery - what more could you want?
*Exploring open trails before the summer heat sets in.  We have lots of  beautiful open trails in Reno to take advantage of - Bartley Ranch, Ballardini Trail, Damonte Park loop, Virginia Lake loop, Rattlesnake Moutain, to name a few.
*Gardening - did you know that cherry tomatoes are so easy to grow and are so fun to snack on throughout summer.  Visit our rad local nurseries: Moana NurseryOld Stone House, catch the annual seedling sale at Great Basin Co-op
*River walks are so calming. They will make you feel so spoiled to be living here.  Good places to start - Barbara Bennett Park or Idlewild Park.
*A good read on a lawn &/or under a tree can be magical. Check out Barbara Bennet Park, Wilbur May Arboretum, and Galena Park (south entrance next to the bridge or Marilyn's pond), & Bower's Mansion
*Dust the bikes off and get moving - The Tahoe Pyramid trail follows the Truckee River and runs throughout our city and into Truckee and even Tahoe! I know, it's pretty epic.  Some great starting points with parking:  Mayberry Park, Idlewild Park, GSR.
*Bird Watching - Rosewood Nature Study Center, Oxbow Nature Center, Sparks Marina, Washoe Lake State Park, Virginia Lake Park, & Wilbur May Arboretum are all great places to find some wildlife to enjoy.
*Movies - they can compliment the positive feelings of renewal that come with spring.  Have you watched these hits yet? - Pride n Prejudice, Big Fish, Into the Wild, A Walk in the Clouds?  My favorite theater is Galaxy Theater at The Outlets at Legends.  They have comfy reclining seats, food + beverages, & promos.  Also, can't help but watch new releases IMAX style.  Download their app (playstore) and sign up to be a rewards member for free and start earning some serious rewards, including free tickets.  Member Tuesdays = $6 movies! And that includes new releases!
3/23-4/3, enjoy THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS and SING at a discounted price.  $2/ticket, with $3.50 combo available for purchase.  Purchase in person at the box office to avoid online fees.

*Easter festivities - join in on the excitement with the whole community.  We do holidays justice.
*High Tea - I mean, is there anything more suiting for spring and Easter?
Bouchee Confections | Osteria Hyatt Regency, Incline Village
*Plan for summer trips - Yosemite National Park is only 3.5 hours away form us.  Can you believe it? Book camp sites at least 6 months - one year in advance.  Tioga Pass is the entrance that's closest to us.  Check the National Park's website for latest updates on when the snow clears and the pass opens up (usually late May or June).  Looking for a proper staycation?  Lake Tahoe is practically in our backyards.  Looking for big city life?  Sacramento is just 2 hrs. away, SF 3.5hrs.
*Baby Animal Days at Andelin Farm - Have you ever fed baby goats with bottles and held baby chicks? You'll be thrilled by these experiences. Recommended for all genders, all ages, and everyone, period.  2026 Baby Animal Days Festival runs April 15th -May 16th.
*Feast on Spring & Easter Offerings All Around Town
*Take a Cooking Class at Nothing To It
*DIY Pottery gifts, dishes, & decor - The Hot Spot, The Clay Canvas, The Wedge
*Sip & Paint - Picasso & Wine, The Crafted Pallette

Did you know Reno has its very own rabbit rescue?  In honor of Easter and the humble Easter Bunny, who became associated with the holiday as a symbol of fertility (they can breed like crazy) and new beginnings back in the 1700s, I wanted to highlight this amazing Reno rabbit rescue that operates purely out of compassion. Want to hang out with these bunnies? Keep an eye out for their next monthly “Hoppy Hour,” where you can meet and play with these adorable creatures. But be warned...they might just kill you with their cuteness!

Ongoing Jam Sessions at Mountain Music Parlor
Mountain Music Parlor | Instagram Facebook Website

The ongoing jam sessions at Mountain Music Parlor are truly magical experiences in Reno.  They're informal, community‑focused music gatherings where musicians of all levels come together to play, learn, and enjoy traditional music in a relaxed setting.  Regardless of your skill level, whether you're a musician or simply a fan of soulful music and talent, everyone is welcome to join.  Create music, make friends, and nurture the musician within you.

Set in a charming Victorian house and run by a rad and talented owner (she an amazing person & fiddle player), Mountain Music Parlor offers quality instruments for sale, a delightful gift shop filled with trinkets and treasures, and music lessons to enhance your skills.

It's a haven for music lovers of all kinds.

Wildfires
Last year, we were fortunate to experience minimal summer disruptions from wildfires. However, conditions can shift swiftly. It's unpredictable when fires might drive indoor confinement.  This is one big reason I love to seize every moment of spring.

Below, I've compiled events and locations that may be overlooked by a simple Google search for things to do in Reno this spring. Tickets and reservations fill up quick, so I recommend securing yours promptly for any events that catch your eye.

Have to been to our rad wildlife sanctuary, Animal Ark, yet?  It's one of my favorite outdoor attractions in our area. WEBSITE

Highlights, Menus, & Eats Around Town
Coffebar's Spring Menu is looking so FIRE!  I love this spot for many reasons:  They're eco-friendly with the only Okapi Cup service in town (pay a one time fee of $10 and use up to two stainless steel cups for up to two weeks at a time for life). They serve made in house food & pastries, have for here cups available for those looking to minimize waste, have this cool roastery you can watch them roast beans at and enjoy one of the only coffee flights in town.  Their other cafes are in the best locations - Truckee & Palisades.  And they have a sister restaurant - Dopo - that makes amazing handmade pizzas & pastas. Oh, AND all of their drinks come in 8oz. size... you've got to admit it... that's pretty cool.  I feel bad when I order 5 - 8oz. drinks in one visit (luckily the baristas are happy to oblige). What can I do - foodies are just born this way, LOL.

Claio is Perenn’s Mediterranean style sister restaurant and easily one of the most stunning and thoughtfully designed restaurants in Reno. Everything on the menu is exceptional and offers something you will not find anywhere else in town.

Beanie's also does RAD & thoughtful seasonal menus year-round.

*Get a box of handmade chocolates from Tandem Chocolates, Bouchee Confections, Dorinda's, & Champagne & Chocolate, for gifts or to share for Easter gatherings, meals, & events.

*Get a tin of amazing handmade Turkish Delights from Pangolin Cafe.  They're as tasty as they look, & they scream Easter & spring.

Snag a box of the best donuts in town from Doughboy's Donuts.  Open early morning till late night.  Drive-thru available.  Great for legit last minuet treats.  P.S. Their cookies are also bomb.

*Bouchee Confections also makes fancy layered desserts year-round.  They're always perfectly balanced, beautiful, and super fancy looking.  Extra points for her spring themed bon bons and bunny shaped chocolates.  And the flavors always change with the seasons.

Cupcakes - Batch Cupcakery & Dream Cakes

Cakes - Dolce Vita, Dream Cakes, Josef's, Batch Cupcakery, C's Mad Batter Cakery

Brunch - The Cup Cafe, Squeeze In, Two Chicks, The Crafted Pallet, The Shore, Perenn Bakery, Beloved's Bakery, Claio, Wild River Grille, Cafe Whitney, Liberty Exchange & Wine, The Twisted Fork, Land Ocean, Los Chilaquiles, PJ & Company, Champagne & Chocolate, Sunrise Cafe, Peg's Glorified Eggs & Ham, La Parada Cafe, Great Full Gardens, Walden's Coffee House, Pine State Biscuits, Coffeebar, Yosh's Unique Deli, Cafe Crepe, Schussboom (weekends)

***Note:  I could go into depth for each suggestion, but then this guide would turn into a bible, LOL.  I'll eventually cover them individually as time passes.

"New Mocktail Menu! Come in to see what were mixing up, and have a taste!"

-Description from website

The sober curious movement is growing, and it is not just a passing trend. More people are thinking about their relationship with alcohol - some are cutting back, some are taking breaks, and some do not drink at all. Others simply want to enjoy a night out and still feel good the next morning. Whatever the reasons, the shift is obvious and more and more bars are starting to take notice.

That is why I appreciate businesses that treat alcohol free drinks with intention & not just something that feels like an afterthought.

Yes, sobriety matters. Yes, you can have fun too. No, you will not look like a wuss. And frankly, who gives a rat’s ass anyway, LOL? Do YOU!

How cool is Rum Sugar Lime's menu?!?  Mocktails that use spirits & bitters really make them unique & stand out from your usual grenadine and soda combo (aka Shirley Temple).

RAD Local Coffee Shops to Fuel your Everyday Life

We’re so lucky to have so many amazing and unique local coffee shops that add so much character to our city. These places are run by passionate people who genuinely love what they do and aim to brighten your day. With all the different styles and flavors to choose from, I can’t help but feel spoiled. Honestly, can you imagine our city being taken over by faceless coffee chains?   Sounds like a freaking Twilight Zone episode to me.

While our class ganache is setting, we'll get be busy rolling and dipping truffles made a bit earlier using a variety of toppings, decorations and techniques. Along the way we'll talk and taste chocolate.

We'll finish by boxing the truffles rolled in class to take home and enjoy. In addition, each student will receive a container of the truffle ganache to make additional truffles at home.

Express Yourself Hand-Painted Bonbon Workshop
*Location:
Tandem Chocolates
7111 S Virginia St Ste A15, Reno, NV 89511
*TICKETS ($90)

"Grab a friend, bring a date, or treat yourself to a creative night out—this hands-on bonbon class is equal parts playful, indulgent, and delicious. No experience needed, just a love of chocolate and a willingness to get a little messy.

You’ll paint vibrant designs with cocoa butter, learn how chocolatiers achieve that glossy, professional finish, and transform your artwork into elegant bonbons filled with a rotating selection of seasonal ganache flavors. Along the way, you’ll experiment, taste, laugh, and discover just how fun chocolate-making can be.

By the end of the class, you’ll head home with a stunning 24-piece collection of hand-painted bonbons—perfect for sharing, gifting, or quietly keeping all to yourself.

Aprons and gloves are provided. Chocolate has a mind of its own, so machine-washable clothing is recommended. This class takes place in our production kitchen; please secure loose hair and skip the strong perfume. Light refreshments will be served.

Level: All Levels (Ages 14+)
Duration: approximately 3 hours
Maximum Participants: 6
Cost: $90

Ticketing Information:
Cancellations are refundable up to four days prior to the class. Until the day of the event, participants may opt for an in-store credit minus 15% of the ticket price. Day-of cancellations receive a 50% in-store credit. A minimum of four participants is required. If Tandem Chocolates cancels a class, a full refund will be issued."

Reno Little Theater

"Dungeons & Drama is a live theatrical experience that fuses the imaginative gameplay of "Dungeons & Dragons" with improvised performance. Four players control four heroic avatars, guided by a Game Master who shapes the unfolding narrative in real time. As the story emerges through dice rolls & player choices, a cast of improv actors brings the world to life - embodying non-player characters, creatures, and pivotal figures within the adventure. Fully staged with professional lighting, sound design, and theatrical events, Dungeons & Drama transforms tabletop roleplaying into an immersive, audience-facing spectacle. Audience members are invited to participate in select moments, influencing the direction of the story and deepening their connection to the performance. Each show is entirely unique, blending fantasy, comedy, drama, and chance into a collaborative storytelling event that exists only in that moment."
