I consider Reno a foodie city... I really do! Our passion and creativity is practically overflowing at the seams. I don't know about you, but I get excited when cooks & chefs get excited... and I'm all here for it! That passion definitely translates into the food, right?! Menus change with the seasons, special items pop up jack in the box style for what seems like endless year-round foodie events, and when you take a closer look, you'll find countless talented cooks, chefs, bakers/cottage bakers, and food trucks behind the counters & windows creating all sorts of fantastical culinary delights at any given time (DROOL).
While we are still missing or are a bit scarce on some offerings like dim sum cart service, handmade roti, African cuisine, and Asian soft serve, we have made incredible strides in a short time in terms of offerings and eateries, and I only see our food scene growing from here on out. Chefs and the like are exploring the latest trends while others are staying true to the classics, resulting in a steady and exciting foodie atmosphere.
Despite our small size at 247,000 people (2021), Reno already has lots of delicious food options to choose from, and many pop up out of nowhere on the daily - I can barely keep up with it all. Good problems, I know!
Below are some of Reno's beloved favorites, along with some hidden gems I've discovered on the side. One of my main focuses of this blog is to shine light on our unique, tasty, and hardworking local businesses while helping keep this diversity of foods and people alive and well in Reno.
If you've been on social media platforms lately, you'll know how the algorithms have absolutely been all over the place, resulting in what seems like a more disconnected community where reach has become more difficult, if not impossible, and everything has turned into one big whole entertainment gig & marketing strategy. Trust me, I know how frustrating it all can be. I'm here to help out & "immortalize" all of the unique, hard-working businesses so they can concentrate more on actually doing what they do WELL without losing their minds & souls (unless you like partaking in this act). Reach has never been easier, actually, but only with effort, of course. Consider me the "boost" person on the playground you had as a kid in elementary school for the monkey bars, LOL. Yes, I'm willing to get my hands dirty just to help people. I'm taking back power into my own hands, and I'm taking the whole community with me.
