Explore Reno’s Heritage: A Visit to the Historic Lake Mansion (Built in 1877)

250 Court St. Reno, NV 89501

Step Back in History at the Lake Mansion
This beautifully preserved gem, dating all the way back to 1877, is one of the oldest buildings in town.  It's fun to know that it's been moved around the city a couple of times (1971 & 2004) before settling down at its current location.  It’s got that perfect blend of historical charm and cultural significance that makes it a must see.

While the mansion isn’t open to the public, they do host some awesome all ages art classes and workshops year-round. During Reno's month long Artown Festival, they offer tours to the public.  All throughout the year, they put on multiple arts festivals that I love attending with my kiddos, featuring tons of art stations for young ones to enjoy and exercise their creativity. And every year, they switch up their theme for their annual Fundraiser in October that takes place in the mansion.

-A Building with a Story: The Lake Mansion was originally located next to the Truckee River but was moved to its current spot to preserve its historical value.

Right across the street from the mansion, you'll find Reno's beloved local grocery store. This amazing spot is not just a place to shop but also a great place to hang out and connect. You'll find everything from groceries to health and beauty products, plus an incredible grab and go section with tons of food options - both sweet and savory - all made in house with the freshest ingredients.  I love that they always have house made soups on hand daily, and their chocolate pudding is my favorite.

400 Island Ave, Reno, NV 89501
Just down the street from Great Basin Co-op, Barbara Bennett Park is a perfect place to unwind in Reno. The beautiful Truckee River flows through the center, making it a favorite for locals who love to splash around in the summer or simply sit and admire the view in the winter. The park offers plenty of perks, including year-round restrooms, a tennis court, a playground, a basketball court, and lots of grassy areas with shade trees. Plus, it's just a short stroll to the downtown Riverwalk, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the city.
